On the evening of Saturday, May 11, the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro hosted the Varèse Sarabande 35th Anniversary Concert. Varèse Sarabande is a Los Angeles-based record label that specializes in the recording of film scores. This evening’s red carpet event celebrated the label’s 35 years of releasing film music with an orchestral concert featuring memorable scores from Hollywood’s Golden Age to today’s blockbusters. The concert featured guest composers, celebrity soloists, and the world premiere of the Star Trek Into Darkness score, a performance that was conducted by the film’s Oscar-winning composer, Michael Giacchino.
